Social Media Silliness…

Without question companies, corporations and small business people have finally figured out that the best way to promote their products or service is by going full tilt into social media.  And when I say social media I am talking about Facebook, Twitter and the like. It’s an inexpensive and quick way to reach your customer. If you are on Facebook (and who isn’t anymore), type metal detecting in the search area at the top. The number of pages devoted to the pastime is staggering.

Rainy Day Ramblings…

 FOLLOW-UP TO FINDING THE VERY BEST DETECTOR…

Okay, had an email from RD who was somewhat pissed at my last blog post, Finding the Very Best Detector.  He more or less said I was way off base because he was sure he had the best detector, and you guessed it, it was the most expensive model on the market.  So der ya go. I stand corrected. I got it wrong…

Finding the Very Best Detector…

Which detector is the best? Which brand or model will outdo all the others on the market? Is it the most expensive one? The one with more bells an whistles? Or is there a lesser expensive one that can perform equally as well? More importantly IS THERE such an animal, and if so, who is it that determines that?

FROM ONE EXTREME TO THE OTHER

Last year we were facing drought conditions here in Texas, but thanks to El Nino 2015 is looking much different. So far this year, from January through April, we’ve received 12.74 inches of rain, compared to 3.83 for the same period last year. Our lakes and reservoirs are finally starting to fill, and the 10 day forecast calls for rain and more rain. It figures I finally got permission to hunt a large and potentially productive site and now it’s water-logged.  Here’s hoping that all this moisture will increase my odds when I finally do get there…..

WHAT THE ANALYTICS TELL ME

I’ve noticed that I get the most visitors to my blog whenever I talk metal detectors or post photos/videos of finds. On the flip side, if I talk about archaeologists, organizing the pastime, or simply piss and moan (which is a forte of mine), the numbers go down. 

Too Old For All This…

The fact that we tekkies are able to stay in touch online is really pretty cool, but sometimes it results in heavy drama, and knock ‘em dead arguments. Look around and you will pretty much find them on any metal detecting forum, website or FB page.

The Treasure Right Under Your Nose…

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and if you are fortunate enough to still have your Mom around, promise yourself that you will spend more time with her, not just tomorrow, but whenever possible.  Don’t wait until it’s too late….

My Mom passed away four years ago, and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of her…..
