John Winter

Well now I know John Winter is an okay Brit, and his latest blog post proves it.  Yup, he finally put it out there for all to see.  He admitted he’s a grumpy old git (think git means the same thing as “fart”).

Not sure if it’s our age (we are both 74), our love of wine, our good looks, or all three, but we have as so much in common it’s scary. Read the following and tell me what you think?

Mid-Week Meandering…

BIG BAD BILL

Well tropical storm Bill has just arrived and exactly how much rain we will get is anyone’s guess, with estimates from 3 to 12 inches possible. Not good, especially with our lakes already full and local rivers at flood stage.  So, if you don’t hear from me in a few days time, please call the coast guard and tell them I’m afloat somewhere.

I Didn’t Ask For Any of This!

I’ve always felt fortunate that I got interested in metal detecting when I did, and wonder whether I would have stuck with it had I discovered the pastime later. In the 70’s the competition was almost non-existent and the good finds were more plentiful.No one then had a computer, smart phone, GPS, or access to cable TV. It was a simpler time and life was good.

METAL DETECTING, THE HOBBY

Had hoped to be able ro reprint “Metal Detecting, the Hobby” but it looks like that won’t happen. To get costs down I would have to order in large quantities, and then of course discount considerably to the larger companies and distributors. Bottom line, it’s just not financially possible right now.  If something should happen down the road, and I change my mind, I will let you all know.

Was visiting a Facebook page and found a poster fawning over his recently found Walking Liberty Half Dollar.  According to him it was his favorite coin, his best find, his benchmark for success up to this point.
