The Simplex+ Handbook

Been reading Andy Sabisch’s “The Simplex Handbook” and it’s extremely well done. If you too have a Simplex it’s well worth the price ($16.95). It’s a large 8 1/2 x 11 book with an easy to read layout and loaded with lots of photos, illustrations and charts.

In the beginning Andy explains –

This book is not intended to simply repeat what is contained in the instruction manual, which was well written, but rather to provide you , the actual user, with  a stronger understanding of the Simplex’s features so that you are able to set your detector to obtain maximum performance under any conditions you might come across or for any type of treasure hunting that you choose to engage in….”

And he does this very well!

Nothing in the Simplex+ handbook is hurried and in-between discussing the various modes/settings are tips and photos from other Simplex users. I also like that when a particular feature is being explained Andy not only ‘details’ it’s purpose but also the potential pitfalls you might have when using it -i.e. depending too much on target ID, do you “need” to always ground balance, etc..

The 8 1/2 x 11 format is easy to read and most important, understand

Just a “few” of the topics in the Simplex+ Handbook

The Birth & Evolution of the Simplex
Mastering the Search coils of the Simplex
Common Simplex Questions
Coin Hunting with the Simplex
Interpreting Target ID Info and Audio responses
Relic Hunting, Beach & Water Hunting Tips & Techniques
Accessories for the Simplex
Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Andy Sabisch’s Simplex+ handbook not only tells you about how to get the best out of your Simplex but how to get the best out of your everyday hunting. It’s reads like a novel and I’m enjoying the hell out of it!

Pretty sure most dealers will have this in stock by now but if not you can order direct from Andy at Treasure Hunting Outfitters.

  1. If it’s anything like his XP Deus Handbook, he’s onto another winner. Rather than a User Manual, manufacturers ought to include one of Andy’s guides instead. JMO.
